Masaru Tōno (東野 将, Tōno Masaru) is one of The Children's classmates and childhood friend of Chisato Hanai. Their relationship is secretly monitored by B.A.B.E.L. as requested by The Children and Fujiko Tsubomi, with the approval of the current Cabinet of Japan.

Chisato Hanai[]
The two being childhood friends where their relationship was strained due to Chisato's ability as a telepath awakened and peeked the boy's feeling. Only to heal after both of them befriend Kaoru Akashi. Their feeling will eventually went deeper under three cupids in the form of The Children.

Masaru is named after To no Chujo (頭中将), Hikaru Genji's best friend in The Tale of Genji.
- The name Masaru means "leader, commander, general, admiral, or, and again, soon, from now on, just about" (将).
- Masaru's surname Tōno means "east" (東) (tō) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
